Teaching Design for Change

Here in Chile summer vacation runs through February, thus since last Friday I am officially on vacation. I have written a list of ideas to contemplate during this time. I won’t mention all of them but are all under the concept of “different”, that is, that I can get something different out of them. In this regard, today I have decided to look at the TED series. I highly recommend these clips as they are refreshing, short and with good content.

In this quest to look for “different”, and to make a story short, I looked into the latest 2010 series and found the following clip on Design for Change. Now the word CHANGE has got a lot of attention in the past years (key word for many politicians all over the world), nonetheless an relevant word. The video presents a designer Emily Pilloton and her current initiative for school education, and engagement, and stimulus, and confidence builder, and a bunch of other things that are critical and need to be addressed in today’s schools systems (check out the situation in La Araucania, Chile).

Anyhow, here is the video, and something to think about and integrate into this year’s plans. At the same time, do visit the Engineering 4 Change website :
